History of Afghanistan Medical Council

Afghanistan Medical Council was established for the first time by the decree of the President of Afghanistan on 4/30/2016. After that, in 2018, the Afghanistan Medical Council was legally approved as an independent government institution. which was issued as Appendix No. 1 of the Medical Law and established the Afghan Medical Council in the National Gazette of Afghanistan No. 1313 dated (8/10/2018) and determined its responsibilities and powers.

And further, after the re-establishment of the Islamic Emirate in Afghanistan, in the meeting number (18) of the Cabinet of the Islamic Emirate, which was held on (01/10/2022) under the chairmanship of Honorable Alhaji Mullah Mohammad Hassan Akhund, the Medical Council of Afghanistan was established as an independent department and It was approved with a specific budget.

According to the law of the Medical Council of Afghanistan, the activities that ensure a suitable environment for the safety and rights of the patients are considered. The Medical Council of Afghanistan aims to standardize and improve the quality and regulation of medical services provided by medical and dental doctors throughout the country to improve and strengthen standards and medical education and also to support the specialized rights of medical and dental doctors, which is one of the most important areas that the Medical Council Afghanistan is working on it.

Our mission is to ensure patient safety through improving and promoting the quality of services delivered by medical doctors and dentists and the training delivered by medical and dental educational institutions.

Our vision is to be a strong, effective, and trustworthy regulator that assures that medical doctors and dentists are well trained and practice competently, ethically and safely, to benefit the health of the people of Afghanistan.
